If the tag definition contains an empty line and the tag is indented
with white space, the empty lines in the tag definitions would
result in lines with trailing spaces being inserted into the file.
This update uses a margin stripped of trailing white space for empty
lines found in the tag definition.

Rather than writing the escaped data to a file, the escaped
data is appened to a buffer in memory.  If the buffer containing
the escaped data does not match the buffer containing the existing
file contents, then the original file is truncated and the buffer
containing the escaped data is written to disk.
